Nothing. There will be no transfer of items or characters to GW2. The Hall of Monuments will give you something in GW2, but no one knows what it will be. Knowing how ArenaNet operates, it will not be more than a cosmetic benefit.
So what to do for the next year? Have fun. Enjoy the new content that was released (War in Kryta) and the additional content that the new head of the Live Team has said is coming.

Personally I don't think grinding titles for the HoM is worth it for some cosmetic bonuses in GW2. So I would say no to grinding and HoM, just get the trivial things for HoM like beating some of the campaigns.

I'm exploring territory not previously chartered with only one of my characters;
Creating builds as I've never before bothered to thoroughly explore skill combos; Using melee in JQ because everyone in JQ complains of melee in JQ; Enjoying Z challenges/bounties. Working on protector title for all 3 chapters. Also before GW2 comes out, going to save cash to make available for pc upgrades as per recommended specs. -.- |

Play the parts of the game you enjoy fill the hall of monuments as and when you are in a position to do so.
All that is likely to transfer to GW2 is probably cosmetic. Maybe character names will be preserved Maybe Armour and Weapons but unlikely Possible animal companions Possibly minipets I am hoping I will be able to access my menagerie though probably with the levels reset to 3, this is only important to me if some species have disappeared from the wild. Trouble is they have not given us much to go on I think this is mainly because they haven't decided themselves. Might be nice as you create each new character for part of the creation for you to choose from your hom. So you could be using your ancestors weapon, armour or name etc. With the current information your guess is as good as mine but if it was me I wouldn't be spending a huge amount of time on it. Those who do and fill their hom will probably be the first to complain on this forum about what a waste of time it all was. |

Fill all monuments with the maximum amount of items they can display and then try to get as high as you can the Kind of a big deal title. I would sudjest to do stuff that way:
Protector->Eye of the North->Guardian->Eye of the North HM->Vanquishing and Exploring at the same time Also use double weekends the best way you can. Take Zaishen quests and bounties for extra rep. And the events to gather party/sugar/drunkard items. Make a Catha character for the Survivor title and get him to the Kilroy dungeon in Eye of the North. Make a Pre searing character to farm Hunter's gifts and sloowly get him to be Legendary Defender of Ascalon. Good luck and remember to have fun :P |

I miss the days when people played just for fun or just for some single score. Nowadays you have to get showable rewards to get any fun from games. It is like second job.

Nah, people force those believes onto themselves, Zakarr. If you are only interested in the story of GW, just play the campaign and be done with it.

I wouldn't do anything you don't find enjoyable. There will be no substantive benefits from the Hall of Monuments. Nonetheless, if titles interest you, find a group of friends that have similar goals in mind and work together. It's always easier to do if you have people to take your mind of the grind.
There's also lots of news and chatter to catch up on regarding Guild Wars 2: Guild Wars 2 ArenaNet Blog Guild Wars 2 Guru
